Usually, glass is an isotropic homogeneous material, and when there is stress, it exhibits anisotropy, resulting in birefringence of light.
Place a quarter wave plate in the field of view and adjust the zero point of the polarizing stress meter to present a dark field of view. Place the sample in the field of view and qualitatively measure the presence or absence of internal stress in the glass based on the interference color sequence in the polarization field, or quantitatively test the value of internal stress in the glass.
